NEW BOOKS

PAR-TAY: Dance of the Veggies illustrated by Don TateAuthor/Illustrator Don Tate‘s latest picture book, PAR-TAY! DANCE OF THE VEGGIES (AND THEIR FRIENDS), debuted this month. Written by Eloise Greenfield, the book follows a head of cabbage that starts a house party with other vegetables after a family leaves their home for an outing.

Also coming in June is the debut book of The Booking Biz Marketing Director Samantha M Clark, THE BOY, THE BOAT, AND THE BEAST. Pitched as THE GRAVEYARD BOOK meets HATCHET, the middle-grade novel will be published on June 26 by Paula Wiseman Books/Simon & Schuster.

Kwame Alexander‘s REBOUND debuted at No. 3 on the New York Times Best Sellers List for Middle Grade Hardcover and stayed on the list this week as well, at No. 4. He is currently on tour promoting the book. In addition, his novel THE CROSSOVER was selected as the 2017-2018 Indian Paintbrush Award Winner for grades 4-6 and the 2017-2018 Iowa Teen Award. THE CROSSOVER returned to the bestsellers list this week, landing at No. 9.

Uma Krishnaswami‘s book STEP UP TO THE PLATE, MARIA SINGH was selected as the 2017-2018 Asian/Pacific American Children’s Literature Award Winner as well as the 2018 FOCAL Award Winner by the Friends of Children and Literature in Los Angeles.

Kwame Alexander‘s THE PLAYBOOK: 52 RULES TO AIM, SHOOT, AND SCORE IN THIS GAME CALLED LIFE have been nominated for Indiana’s 2018-19 Young Hoosier Book Awards in the Middle Grade category, and picture book WHOOSH! LONNIE JOHNSON’S SUPER-SOAKING STREAM OF INVENTIONS illustrated by Don Tate has been nominated in the Intermediate category.

JASPER AND THE RIDDLE OF RILEY’S MINE by Caroline Starr Rose made the Bank Street Best Books of 2018 list and is an SCBWI Crystal Kite finalist!
