AWARDS & ACCOLADES
Mitali Perkins’ young adult novel YOU BRING THE DISTANT NEAR has received the 2018 South Asia Book Award. This award celebrates high-quality children’s and young adult books that portray South Asia or South Asians living abroad.
TWO TRUTHS AND A LIE: IT’S ALIVE! by Ammi-Joan Paquette and co-author Laurie Ann Thompson has been selected for the 2018-19 Maine Student Book Award List.
Two of our clients have won Utah Beehive Book Awards, the state’s only children’s choice book award. WHOOSH! LONNIE JOHNSON’S SUPER-SOAKING STREAM OF INVENTIONS, illustrated by Don Tate with text by Chris Barton won a Utah Beehive Award in the Picture Book Informational Division. And Kwame Alexander‘s BOOKED won in the Young Adult division.
NEW BOOKS
As the 60th anniversary of the first Paddington Bear novel approaches, the newest Paddington book written by the late Michael Bond and illustrated by R.W. “Bob” Alley, PADDINGTON AT ST. PAUL’S, was released with happy fanfare at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London! The U.S. version will release in January, if not a bit sooner.
BOOK DEALS
G.P. Putnam’s Sons has acquired world rights to Caroline Starr Rose’s MIRACULOUS, a historical middle-grade novel about Jack and Cora, who learn that it takes more than faith in a charlatan doctor and the magic of his medicine show tonic to fix things that are broken. Publication is planned for spring 2020.
EVENTS
R.W. “Bob” Alley, illustrator of the Paddington Bear books, will be presenting at Books on the Beach on July 25 on the Rhode Island/ Connecticut border.
