New Book Coming! Plus More Client Cheers

Our clients are keeping busy! K.A. Holt announced a new publishing deal. And, Ammi-Joan Paquette, Melanie Crowder and Kwame Alexander‘s books are making waves.

AudacityThe first book in the non-fiction middle-grade series, TWO TRUTHS AND A LIE: IT’S ALIVE by Ammi-Joan Paquette and Laurie Ann Thompson has been selected as a Junior Library Guild pick of 2017. A Fall 2017 Selection, this nonfiction book presents some of the most crazy-but true facts about the living world, as well as a handful of stories that aren’t true—and asks kids to discover which are which!

Melanie Crowder‘s AUDACITY has been selected as the Jewish Women‘s Archive Young Adult Book Pick of 2017. We are thrilled that this story, inspired by the real-life activism of Clara Lemlich, has received such an honor from the JWA during Women‘s History Month. A gorgeously told novel in verse written with intimacy and power, AUDACITY is inspired by the real-life story of Clara Lemlich, a spirited young woman who emigrated from Russia to New York at the turn of the twentieth century and fought tenaciously for equal rights.

Crossover coverAnd Kwame Alexander‘s THE CROSSOVER has won the 2017 Rebecca Caudill Young Readers’ Book Award. Student voters in grades 4th through 8th selected this novel in verse as their winner, and we appreciate all the other amazing books that were also on the master list.

House Arrest author K.A. Holt middle-grade novel Dear Me has been bought by Scholastic for release in summer 2018. The book tells the story of a girl who, three years after her sister’s death, stumbles upon a list of things she had wanted to do—and decides to complete that list.
